Paver Sealing
Paver sealing
Paver sealing involves applying a protective coating to pavers to enhance their appearance and durability. It acts as a barrier against moisture, stains, UV rays, and other environmental factors, helping to maintain color vibrancy, prevent staining, and prolong lifespan.
Why seal pavers?
- Protection: Paver sealers create a barrier against moisture, stains, and UV damage.
- Appearance: They can enhance the paver’s color and make it look more vibrant.
- Durability: Sealing can help prevent damage from freeze-thaw cycles, salt, and other environmental factors.
- Maintenance: Sealed pavers are easier to clean and maintain.
Types of sealers:
- Water-based sealers: These are generally used for joint sand, penetrating the sand and hardening it.
- Solvent-based sealers: These are used for a high-gloss finish and can be better for protecting against oil or grease stains.
How to seal pavers:
- Clean the pavers: Remove any dirt, debris, or stains using a suitable cleaning solution and appropriate methods.
- Fill the joints with polymeric sand: Sweep the sand into the joints between the pavers, ensuring they are fully filled.
- Let the sand dry: Allow the sand to dry completely before applying the sealant.
- Apply sealant: Use a sprayer to apply a sealant to the pavers, working in small sections.
- Remove excess sealant: Use a foam roller to remove any excess sealant.
- Allow sealant to cure: Let the sealant cure completely before walking on or placing furniture on the pavers.
